This proposal is for 13 residential units on a steeply sloping site located in a designated Area of Special Character overlooking the Kent coastline. The scheme has a low visual impact from the street, with low-level roofs gently sweeping up to form a four-storey volume, much of which is cut into the hillside.
The masonry lower levels anchor the buildings to the ground, with prefabricated timber frames used for the upper levels. Because of the site’s topography, negotiations with the highway authority regarding acceptable access and parking arrangements were particularly challenging.
