Nestled within Kentish woodland lies this modest structure that is used as a calming space to practice yoga. The client’s aspiration for the project was to create a modern reinterpretation of a Japanese tea house that would compliment his adjacent Japanese inspired water garden. The free standing structure uses materials that are intentionally simple and rustic, with traditional timber boarding covering the entire building that will silver to blend in with the surrounding trees.
The structure has the flexibility both being enclosed as space for contemplation and meditation or to opening out to a terrace with views to the woodland and private garden beyond.
